How To Use ALREADY in English, Definition and Example Sentences



Already means that something happened earlier than we expected. With Present Perfect Tense already usually goes after have or has and before the main verb. “Already” is usually used in affirmative ( positive ) sentences and sometimes in questions but not used in negative sentences.

Example Sentences;

  • I’ve already seen that film. I don’t want to see it again.
  • Arriving at the bus station, I found the bus had already l eft.
  • Have you already taken the money?
  • He has already done the shopping , he is watching T.V now.
  • I have finished the exam already.
  • They have called the police already.
  • We are already sleeping.
  • He can already read this book.
  • Mark has already here, but John hasn’t come yet.
