Using However and Yet and 7 Example Sentences
However
We can express a contrast by using the adverb however with two sentences. It is always followed by a comma.
Examples
- He was feeling very ill. However, he went to work.
- The weather was sunny; however, we didn’t go outside.
- Tom works a lot, but however he hasn’t any money.
Yet
Yet means that something that we expected has happened or hasn’t happened. We usually put it at the end of a sentence.
Examples
- Michael has bought a new dress but she hasn’t worn it yet.
- He hasn’t watered the flowers yet.
- It hasn’t been decided yet.
- We haven’t been able to solve the problem yet.
